I use laquire(sp) thinner to clean the bondo spreaders. Just put a little in a shallow pan and let set a while if it has already hardened or just use a rag and some thinner if it is still soft. Be sure to cover the pan with foil or somthing it will catch fire faster than gas. A good pair of chemical resistant gloves is a good idea as the thinner can dry your hands very quickly as well as getting into your system. Don't know about the primer except that I like to use two colors so I know when I'm about to sand through to bare metal. Then I can shoot another coat of build up if need be and still have a good base of primer.
