Hi; In 1960 when the 52HP Fordson Super Major was released, farmers on heavy land wanted more power and 4wd. Roadless created the 6/4 (6 cylinder & 4wd) with a Ford diesel truck engine producing about 80HP. This engine was already being used sucessfully in other farming applications like combines etc. To keep the turning circle small, the engine was mounted over the top of the 4wd axle, retaining the wheelbase of the 4 cylinder tractors. This excess weight on the front axle caused problems. A large number of Roadless Ploughmaster tractors were exported to the USA & Canada; and were popular in the Caribean on the sugar plantations.
