Hi Crusader; Im not a camera "anorak" but went by advice from camera shop, not the Wallmart type pile it high, sell it cheap type store. Bought a Canon, best lense quality you can find, the lense is the most important bit. Plus a metal case for safety when I drop it, and chrome colour so I can find it when I put it down somewhere. Mine is 5M pixels which seems adaquate quality. Two zooms, one to take close up photos of small objects, the second allows me to zoom the photo Ive taken to see more detail. Plus the most important thing is the battery. Mine is a rechargeable square block which fits into camera, plus a mains charger. Dont buy the cameras that use rechargeable tube type batteries, they dont hold enough charge to last a day at a show etc. Look for the best deal available, mine came with leather carrying case, recharger, spare film chip, Ive now bought larger capacity chip to hold more photos; and all the leads to connect with computor and a disc to download the Canon sytsem into my lap top. The individual price would have been close to £300 (English Pounds) my "deal" cost £199. Cheers David
