It is important to remember that the Star Spangled Banner was written by a poet/song writer to appeal to public sentiment, and to make a buck. It has no more force of law than anything written by Bob Dylan, Madonna, or Snoop Dogg whatever. The law is established by the Declaration of Independence and The Constitution of United States. It is of interest to note, that the number one grievance (at least sequentially) in the Declaration of Independence, is the lack of government laws. Also of interest, is that prior to the complaint about excessive taxes, is the objection to maintaining a Standing Army in a time of peace. (Perhaps the complaints about maintaining a Standing Army and excessive taxes are related). Thanks for the thoughts, Happy 4th of July, RND
