You're close. The correct equation for the displacement of each cylinder is - pi*r^2*stroke Where r is the radius, or 1/2 of the bore. The equation you were using would tell you the area of the cylinder swept by each piston. I forgot to show pi in my earlier equation, but the answer was right (I cheated and didn't actually work out the numbers). For the 1/4 scale merlin, with a bore of 1.5 and a stroke of 1.5, each cylinder would displace - 3.14*(.75^2)*1.5 = 2.65 cubic inches So, the 1/4 scale merlin would displace 31.8 cubic inches if the full-size merlin had a 6X6 bore and stroke.

The Ferguson System Principal An implement cutting through the soil at a certain depth say eight inches requires a certain force or draft to pull it. Obviously that draft will increase if the implement runs deeper than eight inches, and decrease if it runs shallower. Why not use that draft fact to control the depth of work automatically? The draft forces are
