I'm always harpin on my father about hitch pins, he does the same thing, he think's I'm a pain because I grease everything properly, change fluids on time, kind of hold things up sometimes to do it right etc., but within reason, I try to take good care of the equipment as I hate seeing any equipment not being taken care of, but these darn pins and such, why take chances, I'm glad it worked out, not sure whether you lost the hair pin or not used it, but at some point the conditions are just right and out they come. My neighbor, while baling the field next to mine last year, lost the tongue off the NH baler, later model, but the pipe was rusted out, snapped off, he lost that 3/4 full wagon into our tree-line/woods that and a few other fiascos, having to run like crazy to get parts, weather closing in, same old story, he just upgraded and was getting the bugs out of the baler, somehow missed the rear tongue being in such bad condition, not very stout from the factory anyways, good thing the trees caught it, otherwise it would have ended up in the 23 acre pond below.
