hardener in the paint?

I am painting my 73' pick-up, useing kinda cheap paint.. it was $20 a gal, but I was wondering if I should use hardener in the paint or not? TSC has some for $8 a bottle.. good for 1 gal.. is it going to be worth it in the long run? I know I could go to napa and get some raelly nice SALTY paint.. but I want/need to do this
EL-CHEAP-O... so will it be a waste to use it in my cheap paint? or will it help? make the paint a bit more shiny? last a bit longer? thanks for the help!
