Ok, here's the deal. 1 ton 4x4 Cummins with automatic. Loaned it to a family member last night. Today I jump in to go somewhere and its not shifting in to overdrive. Fluid is fine. Other gears are fine. Is this maybe an electrical problem? I've got a Haynes manual, but it ain't much help with this particular problem. I was thinking the overdrive was actuated by a solenoid? Is the throttle position sensor on this circuit also? Testing procedures for the pieces involved? Its a lot of question, I know, but I don't have a lot of time or money to spend fixing this beast. Any suggestions or information is greatly appreciated. Thanks y'all, Anthony P.S. Trans fluid/filter changed approx. 6 weeks ago. Filter was dirty (as expected; previous owner hadn't changed it in about 3 years) but the pan was quite clean. No shavings/debris except a coating on the magnet. For the time frame involved, I was rather surprised how little trash was in the pan.
