My experience with an umbrella goes back several years. Either one will cool you off several degrees. I found my umbrella did not stay put well in road gear and I did a good bit of road travel. It just twisted in the frame due to the wind speed. Didn't hurt anything, just had to reset it when I returned to the field! I've never used a canopy so I can't compare, Sorry! I'm currently in the market for a rollbar/canopy
for both safety and comfort! Hot sun in the summer and cold rain in the winter makes me look for a rigid canopy! Since I have over head exhaust, I have to watch for trees anyway! Good luck!
