That's a new one on me, melons. But we have crows going after the corn, that's for sure. Don't know what to tell you about that one, and in Indiana, although its varment (ie: coyote) season all year long for "property owners", it aint crow season but twice a year, and just happens to be right now until mid-August. Got worse problems with Mom's garden though. Something big with paws the size of my fist I'm told that woke the lab and collie up the other night and had them going nuts and waking everyone up. I know we've got big cats (puma and cougar type) in the area that Michigan DNR released, and that was my first thought since have tracked them along fencelines after past sightings and maulings in the area. But according to my neighbor Dan, he's got one huge recent den under his barn, and believes this to be a badger by the tracks around the den and since deer in the area are plentiful right now - so doubtful is a cat this time. Both are nasty to deal with, and its never open season on either. Mmm mmm mmm. Can only trap and release badgers and they aint nice and will shread a dog easily enough. We'll take a look this weekend after get home. Mark
