Question for Allan in NE

Allan, I'm curious as to what kind of wood was used in the corral fencing on your place. I know the type of wood is not such an issue there where it is so dry you probably don't have a decent crop of termites. FYI the wood of choice here in the SE is white oak because it is tough and water resistant due to the way the pores in the wood are arranged. Years ago when people made split wooden shingles, they used white oak. Other oaks would leak. Also used in barrels. Red Oak works well for corrals also, but only lasts 20-30 years. KEH
