I'm 55, had my right knee replaced last December, and it has been a monumental struggle. Physician believes that I heal quickly, which causes inelastic scar tissue to readily form. Subsequently, everytime you force the joint to move, this tissue tears and again heals before the next day's PT session. Result is a lot of pain and slow progress. Based on the doctor's experience, it could be three years before I can fully utilize the knee. I'm semi-retired (still farm a little) so have ample time to work the issue. PT stopped at 4 months, so any more progress is fully my responsibility. Everyday I ride 15 to 20 miles which has slowly improved flexibility. But to ride the bicycle, I had to shorten the right crankarm approx one inch. Still do some PT work/stretching at home nearly everyday. Despite this seemingly discouraging discourse, the new knee is still better than what I had. I also believe my problems are atypical. The majority neither have as much pain or progress as slow. However there are a few which have had it much worse, particularily those which unfortunately get an infection. Hopefully you will be one of the luckly ones.

Now my grandfather had had this mule since the mid 40's and he was getting some age on him. S
