Greetings, all. Firstly an introduction. I am a researcher here at the University of Sunderland (England) looking into the design of steering adaptation equipment for disabled drivers. One of the main pieces of equipment they use are spinner knobs attached to the steering wheel. Usually these are mushroom-shaped (though there are various shapes out there). I am performing assessements on the ergonomic quality of these designs. What I was hoping to find out was if this these steering knobs came with the original tractors in the '40's or so. I have seen some pictures of a TO-30 and a Ford 2N with what appears to be such a knob on the steering wheels, but I was hoping to get a bit more information on the history of this steering equipment. Any information is greatly appreciated! Thank you. Stuart Fraser P.S. This message was originally posted to the Ferguson board, so appologies for anyone who has to see this twice!
