Got a call from my daughter last night- she's on a helicopter firefighting crew, spent the last 9 days at a forest fire near Omak, in northeastern Washington. Said they spent most of the time playing cards in the shade- seems that they have new rules now, and state crews (hers) can't fight fires on federal lands, and vice versa. They're worried about who is paying who. They used to help each other, and it pretty much balanced out. But both groups have to be there, of course, because state lands and fed lands are interspersed, and you never know when its going to jump over the line. There's another good thing the bureaucrats have managed to screw up. Sorry to hear about your situation- good luck, and heads up!
