I am a value shopper with a mechanical background. When I make a purchase, I am not an impluse buyer. Usually I talk to someone(s) whose opionion I value and/or do some research. When I get a consensus, I then make a purchase. Even then, I ask for a trial period or reserve the right to return the item if I am not satisfied once I get it home. If the seller is not confident enough with his product to provide this usually I am better off not owning it. Go to a Lowes or Home depot and buy a MTD mower With the features you want. Look after it using good maintenance practices and store the mower in the dry. In 5 to 6 years during springtime, thoroughly clean the machine and place an add/sign "For Sale". The mower will bring 60 to 70% of what you gave for it. Take the funds from the sale and add a few hundred bucks and go back and buy the newest version of mower that you like. Your cost of ownership will be only the difference(less than the interest on the money difference for one of those over priced mowers) you pay between the first and second mower plus one battery. You did not have to make repairs and you always will have a reliable mower. A bonus is that you will get to smell the new paint burn off more frequently. Buy one of the high priced mowers and you will feel compelled to keep and maintain it hereafter.
