You must have direct line of sight, no trees, power lines, or anything else, to the satelite that you are trying to receive. The frequency of the satelite transmitters are so high that interference from most sources are usually not a problem. Solar interference is rare but can happen during solar flares. Thunder storms between your receiver and the satelite will cause brief interuption of the signal. Once you know the coordinates of 'your' satelite you can use an electronics box that Radio Shack, and others, sell to fine tune the position of your dish. This box works very well. The trick is to know where 'your' satelite is as there are many up there. Allen is right, the menu function built into your box will tell you how well you are receiving your signal. It will also tell you the coordinates of 'your' satelite for your location. HTH
