Most likely the coil is breaking down with the heat from the engine. This is real common on old Ford cars with the shoddy coils available today. Seems as if you have two choices. Get another coil as per what you have or modify the tractor to accept and new modern coil similar to what is on a car. The modification is not difficult but you have to waste the coil you now have. You will have to do a little soldering and you will need a car coil (a GM 12 volt will work) as well as some wire (5 feet of insulated 16 or 18 gauge and 5 feet of sparkplug wire with a wire conductor inside, not carbon) and three wire terminal ends. Let me know what you want to do.
