maybe i should keep out of this but i stongly don't like it when somebody says anybody can make a good tire. good people can make mistakes and companys do try to cut corners sometimes. i worked near to 16 years at the firestone tire&rubber co plant in des moines ia. my dad and three uncles worked there. and yes i was a union member. i didn't build tires tires, i wasn't fast and good with my hands. i was a janitor and worked in receiving unloading trucks and box cars. at one time john deer was buying firestone tires and they wouldn't take them unless they were made in des moines. des moines used to be the best plant and best workers. i worked there from 1961 to 1980. i retired on dissabilty, hurt on the job in 1976. i got out before all the nasty stuff started and the sale. at that time firestone owened one third of bridgesone. there is nothing simple about building good tires. i never had any trouble driving my 99 dodge truck on the firestone wilderness tires that ford was having all the trouble with and so does my son with his 98 dodge truck 4X4. charley.
