Steel weight about 495 pounds per cubic foot. The 3/8" x 4'x8' when multiplied out; interestingly is exactly one cubic foot of steel, and the 3/4 x 4 x 8 is two cubic feet. So the total weight of the two slabs of steel is 3 c.f. x 495 lbs/c.f. = 1485 lbs. Add legs and braces and you are pushing 1800 lbs. So that 1800 guess was pretty good!
