Phil: I'm living in El Paso, TX (mostly desert), we must irrigate if we want to grow anything. We use the border disk to cut a border around the land so that the water won't flow into our neighbors land or into the road. The disk consists of two short rows of disks mounted at an angle of about 60 to 90 degrees to each other. Each row has two or three disks mounted about 6" to 9" apart.
