I think that the auction company must take some responsibility to ensure that anything taken from the lot is done so in honest fashion. I don't mean 1 week after the auction but at least for the day of the auction and perhaps the next day, the person removing any item should have to register in with their driver's licence and vehicle registration before leaving the site and all items must be checked off and a receipt shown.
