well the other guy covered the simpel ones , now Check and amke sure that the glow plugs are working , next shut off the fuel at the tank and remove the cover on the right hand side of the bellhousing where the timming pointer is next on the injection pump therew is a small plate that is held on with two small flat headed screws this is the timming window there is a rubber gskt behind the plate try and not damage it next turn the engine over with a flat pry bar thru the timming hole in the bellhousing till the TDC mark comes up there is a timming pointer under that cover in the bell housing that you can remove while turing the engine then put it back in and use the two 1/4 inch bolts to hold it in place then look in the timming window of the pump to see if the two lines line up if you only see one line on one plate in the pump turn the engine over 180 degrees and look again . IF the lines still don't line up pull the valve coer and make sure that both valves on # 1 are both loose then look and seel if the pump line up if not then you may have twisted the shaft on the injection pump but not enough to shear it off . If this is the case then you will need to take the pump in as it has tried to seeze and twisted the shaft in the years that i have worked on the red tractors i have seen this twice. Sometimes they will shear off all the way and sometimes they will get twisted just enough that they won't start at the current setting and if ya move the pump so they will start then it will not be long before it finishes what it started .
