Bore da; This is the Doe Triple D - the most sought after tractor in England right now. Triple D = Doe's Dual Drive. Designed by Mr Pryor in Essex (SE ENGLAND) who wanted a 4wd hi HP tractor for his heavy clay land. The ultimate design & manufacture was done by Ernest Doe from Essex a large Fordson dealer. Built from approx 1957 onwards on Fordson Majors then on Ford 5000's until the mid-1970's. The Majors turned out some 100HP and the last 5000's some 130HP in total. The driver controlled the front tractor from his seat on the rear tractor with electrically switched motors & hydraulic valves. The front unit will turn 90 degrees (right angle) giving a very tight turning circle. Doe also built specially heavy duty ploughs & cultivators to match these tractors. They also built a few Doe 5100 tractors using a Ford 6 cyl industrial engine fitted into 2wd Ford 5000's. Approx 500 were constructed over the years, many were converted back into normal tractors or broken for spares. Hence the value to-day could be well over $100,000 in auction !!! Incidentally Ernest Doe are now the largest New Holland dealers in England. Ive seen photos of 2 Volvos in Sweden and 2 JD 820's in USA of a similar construction & design. Hope you enjoy seeing something a little different. Cheers David
