Tooth n Nail, Most states DO NOT use or require any Certificates of Title or similar Registration of personal property such as farm tractors, however, its more of a local and State practice so check with your local authority. As noted below a properly executed (Date, Price, Description of item sold including Model and Serial Number, signed by the parties) "Bill of Sale" can provide good admissible evidence concerning the sale and ownership and can help to establish the buyer purchased "for value and in good faith" which could help if any issues ever arose. My best free legal advice would be to obtain a Bill of Sale and then take posession of the tractor and be happy with it ever after. John T BSEE, JD Country Lawyer
