HFWD-hydrostatic front wheel drive: two hydro motors with plenty of planery reduction within the front wheels. yhd.pressure comes from the tractor's main hyd. pump which, for this purpose has larger capacity. control is electrohydraulic.there are two operating positions: high torqe in which oil flows from pump to hydro motors in parallel, there is a "differential"action since oil not going to one motor goes to the second motor. low torqe-oil fowes to one motor, rotate it then flows to the second motor "diff lock" action is created for ALL the oil flowing to the first motor flows (in series) to the second motor and forces it to rotate at the same speed as the first. the faster HFWD tractor moves-the hyd motors consume more oil until tey exceed the capacity of the pump, hence HFWD is more efficient in slower speeds. MFWD:there is a front axle with differetial and reductions in the wheel hubs.power is transmited ftom the rear axle via a ctutch or a collar coupler.torqe is transmited at all speeds
