clean gas tank

I now have my 720 gas tank clean of rust. I put 10# of shingle nails
in it and hung it from the rafters with a nylon rope and shook the
heck out of it every time I went by it. What do you guys recommend
to keep it that way? I don't know if I want to use the coatings or
not.
