The sickel has been in the header for the 5 years that I've owned it and who knows before that. It's 1995 model,I run 400 acres a year thru it so it could have 2 to 4 thousand acres on this sickel if it is the orginal one. And yes it is in the dirt once in awhile and I think bean dust is as abrasive as dirt. I've never seen one this bad either. Gary
