MF 12

Yesterday I purchased a MF12 Garden tractor. The motor has been overhauled. When I started the motor oil sprays out an overflow tube on the front of the motor and the exhaust is blue. The oil is not over filled. This happened the first time I looked at the tractor as well as it was pushing blue smoke. The guy said he just had too much oil in it and when I bought it it worked just fine. What are the possible problems?
