Doogdoog, Yeppers the VR terminal labeled ARM (labeled GEN on some VR's) is the one that wires to the gennys ARM post and thats the one you momentarily flash jump over to the VR's BAT terminal to polarize the genny and you should get a small spark indicating all is wired up n the gennys field windings are continuous to ground. Sooooooo the VR terminal that wires to your gennys ARM post is indeed the GEN or ARM terminal that needs flashed over to the BAT terminal to polarize the genny. You accomplish the same thing (assuming all is wired correct n grounded) by using a wire n jumping the VR's BAT terminal or even the ungrounded battery post itself direct to the Gennys ARM post.
