I sat here wondering why people in general have so many problems with devices that run on moving electrons.. then it hit me.. it is 'us' as a societies fault. We don't teach usefull info in school.. ( ok.. some...usefull info.. like reading and writing and basic math ).. but no 'good stuff'. A few years back, my day job looked like it was going to go "TU" and I started getting prepaired to teach electronics at my old high school. I had heard my old electronics teacher was retireing, and i had spoken to the administration years ago about getting in there and carrying the torch so to speak. Imagine my surprise when I was told that the class was being discontinued when he retired?!?! That's why the average american can't even put batteries in the correct direction in a tv remote. I used to work in an electronics repair shop. As a tech.. i filled out a form, stating what the problem was. A few of us techs used codes such as: DEU or DUI, or TSTU The sales people were used to seeing abreviations on the repair sheets that they didn't understand.. they always assumed it was some electronics lingo for a technical part that was replaced. Occasionally a customer would question what the referenced part was. Imagine the look on the boss's face when told that : DEU = Defective End USer DUI = Defective User Interface TSTU = Too stupid to use I had many device sent in for repair that simply had batteries in backwards, or that worked 100% and the user was simply unable to operate the device due to?? a bad case of knuckle dragging or years of partying and low brain cell population... or some other such mental condition... From the engine number, it was found that this Major was produced late 1946. It was almost complete but had various parts that would definitely need replacing.
