Gerald, I've checked Baum's, Bailey's and Northern's catalogs. At best they have vane pumps, but not pressure compensated ones or variable displacement ones. I used the "swash plate" variable pumps in my work, but I've found them to be pricy. Years ago I worked at a plant that was using Contential pumps that were pressure compensated and variable volume vane pumps. The vanes operated inside of a movable ring. The ring was offset by a spring and when the pressure built up the ring centered itself by pushing against the spring until it was destroked, and stopped pumping except to replace losses. It had a variable volume of 0 to 15 GPM by using a setscrew and jamb nut thru the housing and restricting the amount that the ring would move off center. I could probably use a plunger sealed with orings attached to a lever in place of the setscrew to give the variable displacement. I want to keep the expense down. The loader/backhoe is just a hobby around my farmette to remove stumps and trench for drain pipes, I can't justify expenditures for more than that. KRM Dayton, OH
