I'm going to be doing 40-45 acres of hay next year and got to thinking about the whole faming thing. I don't claim to be a farmer, In fact at forty acres I think it might still be a hobby. I was wondering what some of you who farm as your main income or have to farm to supplement your income out of neccessity consider a farmer. I am thinking of using part of the money I make to save for the kid's college. Part will be for restoring farm equipment and of course a little for beer money. I'm going to be doing the hay for some neighbors that have the land but don't have the time or flexability to bale. I remember reading somewhere in '91 that the three most respected occupations were firefighter, paramedic and farmer. I don't remember which was one, two or three, but I feel honored to have a part in all three albeit small when it comes to farming.
