Hi
I have a 1948 TE20. When I got it it had an added NAPA solnoid I converted it back to original. Went to junk yard got one rewired to the new (old) style starter solnoid, gear lever activated. Works Great. I have also converted the tractor to 12 volt and retained the old starter. everything works fine. Good Luck.
