Obsession........yer right, the commonly used Calcium Chloride (CaCl) for reartire traction is HIGHLY CORROSIVE to steel (but not to rubber) It is used both as weight additive and anti-freeze because IT IS CHEAP.

You can even use USED automobile anti-freeze (don't need new, can even be free at the right place) and it doesn't eat rubber or steel ...BUT... iff'n it leaks, yer dog specially LOVES that SWEET anti-freeze taste, and will KILL yer dog in about 48-hrs (its treatable by Vets in first 24-hrs, but most time you don't recognize the symptoms until too-late)

You can use NEW non-toxic RV holding tank anti-freeze. $$$ (you really don't want to use USED) grin

Sometimes you can get great buys on winterized windshield fluid that will prevent tire-water freeze-up. But doesn't add much weight.

BEST is "Rim-Guard", a HEAVY sugar-beet based tire anti-freeze. Check with yer local ag-bar tire dealer for installation. Sometimes you can even gitt "field-service" at home which is good iff'n your tractor is LARGE.......Dell
