To my way of thinking, the 4100 is overpriced. It's also not a great loader tractor with the light front axle. Otherwise, it's a good tractor. The 3550 doesn't seem too bad in price to me, depending on condition. However, it's not 60 hp. I'd say more like 40 without actually checking. If I'm not mistaken, that's an industrial model, and should have a heavy front axle... So that would be better for loader work. You would also want to check on what transmission it has, and whether or not it has live PTO. It's possible that it has a manual reversing transmission... in which case I doubt it has live PTO. You've also got to watch the 8 speeds as they also don't all have live pto. If you've looking mostly for a loader tractor, then the 3550 might be OK, depending on it's condition. You've really got to look any of these old things over well. That may be an OK price, or the thing could be scrap.... It certainly won't hurt you to keep looking more. Rod
