Chances, I hope this isn't too simple to bother with, but here we go. What we're talking about here is advertising expense. If your sponsor is making 10% profit on his gross sales, and if he gives you $30.00 of his advertising money, he is going to have to gain $300.00 of NEW business from that $30.00 that he gave you just to break even. That $300.00 of new business has to be business that he would not otherwise have gotten had he not given that $30.00 to you. So, when you go to a business to ask for their advertising money, you have to have thought through the idea of how your event is going to get NEW business to that sponsor. And if you can develop a reasonable rationale for that, you can present it to the business owner and reasonably expect him to sponsor you. Otherwise, he probably isn't going to be too interested in just giving you his money because he's a nice guy. Good luck with your show. Tom in TN
