About the food grade. That is a tough call and the plastic would have to be tested. One also has to understand that the volitiles in the plastic are likely to disappear with the vented steam. Many sap operations have abandoned buckets. The modern sugarbush is now a web of plastic lines. I am just fishing for ideas. The standard for radiant floors is now PEX (cross-linked polyethlylene). It may be that flexible PVC is a superior product but not economic for cost reasons. That angle has to be looked at.
