I'm not sure what equipment you have to use. Its a little hard to give advice not knowing the condition of the tractor - but here some general info. Clean the tractor as best you can - garden hose, soap, and a brush. The cleaner the better. If you can use a pressure washer - all the better. Inspect it to see whats left - caked on mud/grease, rust, broken metal, etc. Search through the archives of this site - about a month ago their were a number of posts regarding painting that were very good. Decide how far you are willing to go. Do you want a show tractor or just a coat of paint with minum of prep. work. I've always found it easer to remove as many non red parts as possible rather then taping them off. A little tip if your going to spray the tractor with a gun - Get a piece of metal fill the gun with water and practice, practice, practice. Once you can spray the metal with a light film of water your ready to go. (water is easer to clean up then a run on your 504). You should spray in an even constant motion. Good luck and post the finished work of art. PS: Some of the chemicals your going to use are very dangerous, make sure you get the proper mask and ask Dad to help. I started working on tractors at your age and loved it - even had a 504.
