hard to start tractor

I have a f40 ferguson, I runs just fine after it warms up. But it is hard to start when it is cold, even if it 95 degree outside. The only way to get it going, is to close the throttle, and it will start, but don"t try to move it, or it will stop runing the secound the throttle is open a bit. after it warm up abit, it is ready to work all day, and start as well. It all starts over again the next day. same thing had to start. what with that?
