i checked prices on hyd. oil at John Deere dealer and it was $49.00 for 5 gal pail. NAPA auto parts had hyd oil for $25.00 for 5 gal pail. both places told me it was the same fluid used in JD tractors. the specs on the bucket covered all major brands of tractors and backhoes and dozers. i have had NO trouble with either brand over the years so i guess the cheaper brand really does not matter. i do not want to pay for just a name. hyd oil, like other oils does not "go bad" sitting on the shelf. once refined and packages it should last forever. only thing that changes is the machine specs so different additives are used in later models.
