I was talking to a place that does oil samples and they said it pays to buy the more expensive oil from a reputable dealer. It has better additives and is API and manufacturer approved. They couldn't tell me the best oil for liability reasons. He did say oil from the big refineries like shell and esso etc. was better oil. Apparently because there is such a huge market in the US, a lot of oil is labeled as meeting specs. but isn't tested. I use MF fluid in my tractor but for straight hydraulic oil I use oil from Walmart. I use name brand oil for engine oil unless it's in an old beater that burns it anyway. Dave
