My farm was the same way a few years back, I just mowed it the first year about like you would a lawn,I mowed the grass about six inches tall,and it choked out 99% of the weeds, in the fall the ground I wanted to row crop I plowed under and let it winter mellow. It worked for me, enjoy your endevours it truely is a wonderful life....
