I'm not a expert, but maybe could be some help.
You could use masking tape on the outer edge of your rim to protect the tire as you paint the rim.
Also you could coat the tire with some type of spray mask material, (check your local paint store). You should be able to fix your rim if you
take your time and be careful when hitting the rim with a hammer. Chappy
