Out here in the Oklahoma Panhandle, we also see a lot of jet contrails. As far as I know, the moisture from the planes engines (as a byproduct of fuel combustion) simply freezes into ice crystals leaving a visible trail. Depending on the winds up high, they may either disperse quickly or slowly. We have been so dry through most of the summer that even the broom snakeweed was dying. At the end of summer, we came into a rainy spell and got almost 16 inches of rain over about a 3-4 week period. Neither the dryness nor the rainy spell were related to the contrails that anyone around here spoke of... HH
