I am going to get on the soap box here, I do not mean to offend any one but I am going to air some thoughts. Every one on this board has one thing in common, and that is the old tractors. Like it or not the main reason we love this old iron is because it is simple common sense engineering, and it reminds us of a simpler day, most of it takes us back to our youth. It did not make any difference if you were broke because everyone else was too. You respected your mother and father not because they gave you money or fancy gifts but because they broke their hump to keep you fed, warm and clothed. This time of year brings back fond memories of stockings filled with nuts, hard tack candy and a bananna. One toy under a tree that we cut down out of the woods covered with decorations that we made ourselves. For me I got a new shirt mom had made of an evening after we went to bed, my sister got home made dresses, I could go on and on but you get the picture. I have a list here of the wants of my grand kids this year, not sent by them but E mailed by their mother.... My wife and I are in a pi$$ing match right now over their list, when I go to their home it looks like a toys R us these bratts want for nothing!!! The day I stand in line for hours or days for a play station shoot me I have lost my mind. Our society has gone to hell in a hand basket, when people like this poor fella can not provide this bunch of nothingness for his loved ones they feel like failures. You stated he had a big heart and generosity, to be able to pass that on to his children would have been the finest gift of all. The only way to help these people as I see it is for us as a society, is to throttle back, seperate our wants from our needs, and especially be kind to our fello man. Riches come in many forms, not just dollars and cents. Think more about this when you are purchasing, not just for christmas, but all through the year. Do I need this or do I just want it? If we all did this we could bring the world back in to reallity, and make the people who are having such a struggle not feel like loosers........Mike

Grain Threshing in the Early 40's - by Jerry D. Coleman. How many of you can sit there and say that you have plowed with a mule? Well I would say not many, but maybe a few. This story is about the day my Grandfather Brown (true name) decided along with my parents to purchase a new Ford tractor. It wasn't really new except to us. The year was about 1967 and my father found a good used Ford 601 tractor to use on the farm instead of "Bob", our old mule. Now my grandfather had had this mule since the mid 40's and he was getting some age on him. S
