if the antifreze/water mix seperates then something is wrong with the antifreeze. they should NOT seperate at all under any conditions according to the mix. i have an old tractor that sits for several months without running it and the coolant mix is the same as when it was put in. i check mine with a antifreeze tester when the engine is cold, although it can be done when it is warmed up also.
