Hey Todd, this is a simple problem with a very tedious solution. The same thing happened to me when I installed a rebuild kit on my Schebler, using the new viton-tip float valve and matching seat. I also used the new axle for the float. Apparently the upward pressure from the float adjusted per specs was not sufficient to stop the gravity-feed pressure on the gas line, because gas came dripping out the air intake. My fix was to carefully bend the neck of the float between the float chamber and the axle assembly to force the float valve up into its seat with the float a little lower. I got it right on the second try: the first attempt stopped all gas flow! I don't believe this will harm anything, because as soon as the gas flow stops, the float stops rising, so the pressure on the valve will never exceed the minimum required to stop the flow. Even if you reused your original axle pin, float valve and valve seat, there might have been some little change in the overall geometry due to different gasket thickness or something like that. Good luck and keep us posted!
