Without looking at my GM charts - there are a few possible mismatches involved. #1 - the splines on the newer NP208 transfer-case might not match the splines on the 1978 TH350 trans. #2 - if you use the older full-time transfer-case - I wouldn't call coverting it to part-time 4WD easy or cheap. It takes a good amount of work and cost some pretty big-bucks for a good change-over kit. The low-priced kits are awful. Prices range from $100 to over $500 for kits. You might want to check on the possible spline mismatch. There are custom input shafts made for the transmissions, and also custom outputs for the transfer cases - but all that stuff cost money and is time-cosuming. For example, up to the middle of 1978 - manual trans. in 4WD had 10 spline outputs and then changed to 32 spline. Some NP208 transfer cases have 32 spline for use with a TH400 trans, but use 27 spline for use with a TH350 or 700R4. NP205 came with 27 spline for the TH350 and 32 spline for a TH400 and also 10 spline for a TH400 or a SM465. I'm not sure exactly sure what the 203 uses for output splines. I have a 78 with the 203 and TH350 trans but it's all original and I have no idea what's inside. I do know that some people are building a sort of dual-transfer case made by joining a 203 to a 208. Also - is seems to me the 203 is about the least durable or useful as ocmpared to the 205, 208, or 241.

Earthmaster Project Progress Just a little update on my Earthmaster......it's back from the dead! I pulled the head, and soaked the stuck valves with mystery oil overnight, re-installed the head, and bingo, the compression returned. But alas, my carb foiled me again, it would fire a second then flood out. After numerous dead ends for a replacement carb, I went to work fixing mine.I soldered new floats on the float arm, they came from an old motorcycle carb, replaced the packing on the throttle shaft with o-rings, cut new ga
