I'm helping a friend fix a problem with his JD 2275 mudder tractor. It runs then the engine quits as it gets warm. They first thought it was a fuel system problem, but when I checked it I found that it might be a piston or main bearing problem. When the engine dies it won't turn over easy until it cools down. I dropped the oil and found numerous particles of aluminum that may be bearing coming apart. Could a person do a in frame overhaul on the lower end or should they pull the engine? Could the problem be linked to more then the lower end i.e, piston or crankshaft. The operator showed me where a rod has came through this engine in the past and was repaired. Should you buy a new short block or spend the money to fix this one again? Any advice from you guys would be appreciated. My friend farms a small amount of ground and isn't a wealthy farmer. Thanks Chappy
