I worked 27 years as an engineer for CSX out of Russell, Ky.....on what was originally the Chesapeake and Ohio, later the Chessie System and when they merged with the alligators, became CSX.

Guess who is CEO of CSX now? The former head of NS!

Mergers suck and everybody below the upper crust suffers. There will be an east-west merger between the BNSF or UP with either NS or CSX....that talk has gone on for some time now. These four companies want lines stretching coast to coast....and they'll eventually get them.

So far as getting goose bumps every time you see a company logo go by......you need to take some time off for cryin out loud! I got nauseated every time the phone rang and I heard the crew callers voice.

I gave those thankless illegitimates the 27 best years of my life and for what? A paycheck and nothing else...but grief. I dreaded being called out on Monday mornings.....I knew the slow orders would be on from one end of the road to the other, because the track inspector would spend all day Sunday high railing 'looking' for something to do the next week. That moron invented sh1t to do, just to keep his gang working and slowing down every train in the process. I came to hate him.
